Website flipping is my most favorite way to make money online, and for me it is the easiest way. This is what I usually do to a site before I flip it…

  1. Do product or information research.
  2. Do keyword research using 2 free tools http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/
  3. Buy a targeted domain. (Name.com)
  4. Install Wordpress then make the site static. (How to make wp static websites)
  5. Choose a good free theme. (Type “free wp theme” into Google.)
  6. Prepare content before adding it to the site, once done add it.
  7. Setup email account for article & directory submissions.
  8. Setup an article account for the domain at the most popular article submission site.
  9. Write or buy 5-10 articles and submit them to EzineArticles and Go Articles - Article Marketing
  10. Submit the site to 100+ Directories - I don’t always do this but it really helps.
  11. Make 1-5 Squidoo lenses
  12. Make 1 Blogger Blog and add all of my articles to it

And that’s it! There are many different things you can do to drive more traffic to your site, like…

  1. Submitting videos to 20-40 video sharing sites.
  2. Social bookmarking.
  3. Buy links on other websites
  4. Buy blog posts on other websites
  5. Pay Per Click advertising.
  6. UsFreeAds Paid submission, which gets your website listed on 50 different websites for $12.00

That’s not an entire list of ways to get traffic but you get the picture, once I have done the above (which might take 6 days 1-2 outsourced) I leave the site running for 2-3weeks then flip it off. If the site is making a bit of money I keep it.

I sell my sites at Digital point and to private buyers and another place called Sitepoint 1# Site Selling Market place in the English speaking world. Also having the lens, article, social bookmarking accounts and so on, in the same sites email account will make it more profitable when selling. Because you can hand it all over in 1 go.

Try out my tips and see if it works for you.

To avoid being scammed by non trusting website sellers I have answered a few questions to help you decide whether or not it is a good idea to buy that website. This is based on the only 2 web marketplaces I buy my websites from, Digital point and Sitepoint.

Here are 5 question to avoid being scammed!

  1. Is the website seller recommended?
  2. Is the price worth it?
  3. Are the web traffic and income stats provided real?
  4. Does the site have Page rank and Alexa ranking?
  5. How long has the site been operating?
  6. Can you pay with Paypal.

Q1. If you are purchasing from Digital Point or Sitepoint there are 2 ways you can tell if the seller is trusted.

  1. Digital Point: Digital point has a thing called “iTraders”, this shows if the seller has previously brought or sold anything on the forum. If you can see that the seller has sold sites previously I would say they are pretty trusting.
  2. Site Point: On site point they do 3 things.
  • They verified the website for sale.
  • They call the the person who is selling the websites.
  • The also have a “feedback profile” which shows if any previous transactions were positive or negative.

Q2. Is the price of the website worth it? Well it depends on how much the website is making and how much traffic is going to the site.If a site makes $400.00 a month I would pay max $5,000.00 for it. Substantial proof would have to be given before I made the purchase or placed a bid.

Q3. There is no real way to tell if the website sellers are being truthful about the website traffic and income stats. Sellers will usually show images of there income and stats. Scammers will sometimes add images of stats that do not belong to them which are FAKE!

Q4. If the website you are wanting to buy has Alexa rank of 250,000.00 or less it will be getting a lot of traffic. If the site has page rank of 4 or more the site is considered to be important by Googles standards. If a seller says that their site receives over 5,000 hits a day and there alexa is 1,000,000.00 or more they are lying!

Q5. If the website has been operating for a year or more that is a good sign (longer is better though). Just make sure it is indexed in the search engines. To check, just type the domains name into Google and you should see the domain. Any less than 2 months and they say the website is getting 10,000 or more visits I would say lying again! Unless the spend hundreds on advertising.

Q6. Make sure you can pay with Paypal because if the site does not make the income stated or has the traffic they said it would get you can make a dispute with Paypal.

Inclusion this is a risky business. You can lose out or get exactly what they said. Avoid scammers and buy from trusting website sellers! Choose wisely and you can reap the rewards!
